Rhode Island Reds

Rhode Island Reds FC was established in 2012 as a semi-professional men's soccer team competing in the Atlantic Conference (Northeast Region) of NPSL, the fourth-tier soccer league in the United States. The crest, designed with ties to the state and flag, features the state's bird—a Rhode Island Red—surrounded by thirteen stars to symbolize Rhode Island becoming the thirteenth state in the union and includes an anchor at the bottom symbolizing the state motto: hope.

The Reds were planned to participate in the 2020 NPSL season, however it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Once the league returned a year later, the Reds were not listed as a participant of the 2021 NPSL season and have not played a professional match since, leaving their future in question.

La squadra gioca le sue partite casalinghe al John Prior Field, un impianto sportivo da 3.000 posti a sedere situato nel campus del Providence College. I colori ufficiali della squadra sono il rosso, il bianco e il nero.

I Rhode Island Reds hanno vinto due campionati USL League Two, nel 1996 e nel 2011. Inoltre, il club ha raggiunto le finali della US Open Cup per due volte, nel 1997 e nel 2012, perdendo rispettivamente contro il D.C. United e il Seattle Sounders FC.

Il club è noto per la sua solida difesa e per il suo stile di gioco aggressivo. La squadra è guidata dall'allenatore Jimmy McGroarty, che è in carica dal 2008. Alcuni dei giocatori più importanti della squadra sono il portiere Collin Fernandez, il difensore Matt Mahoney e l'attaccante Brian Grazier.

I Rhode Island Reds sono una delle squadre più popolari della USL League Two. La squadra ha una forte base di tifosi che sostiene la squadra in ogni partita. Il club è anche molto attivo nella comunità, organizzando eventi e programmi per i giovani.
