Il Waterford Football Club (irlandese: Cumann Peile Phort Láirge Aontaithe) è una società calcistica irlandese con sede nella città di Waterford. Milita nella League of Ireland Premier Division, la massima divisione del campionato irlandese di calcio. Ha vinto per sei volte il campionato irlandese.
History
Fondata nel 1930 con il nome di Waterford Football Club e subito iscrittasi alla League of Ireland, vi militò ininterrottamente (salvo una parentesi tra il 1941 e il 1945) per molte stagioni, vincendo sei titoli nazionali tra il 1966 e il 1973. Nel 1982 ha assunto un nuovo assetto societario, cambiando denominazione in Waterford United Football Club. Dal 1993 disputa le partite interne al Waterford Regional Sports Centre, che sostituì il Klicohan Park.
All'inizio della stagione 2017 il club andò incontro a importanti cambiamenti nell'assetto societario con l'arrivo di Lee Power come nuovo proprietario. Il club cambiò nuovamente denominazione, tornando all'originale Waterford Football Club e cambiando anche lo stemma societario. Al termine della stessa stagione 2017 il Waterford vinse il campionato di First Division, venendo promosso in League of Ireland Premier Division.
Il club fu fondato nel 1930 con il nome di Waterford Football Club. Nel 1987 prese il nome di Waterford United Football Club.
Il Waterford United ha vinto la League of Ireland Première Division una volta, nel 1966, e la FAI Cup due volte, nel 1937 e nel 1980. Ha inoltre vinto la League of Ireland First Division due volte, nel 1984 e nel 1990.
Il club ha partecipato sei volte alle competizioni UEFA per club: una volta alla Coppa dei Campioni, una volta alla Coppa delle Coppe e quattro volte alla Coppa UEFA.
La sua rivale storica è il Cork City, con cui ha dato vita al Derby di Munster.
Il Waterford United è una delle squadre di calcio più antiche e storiche della Repubblica d'Irlanda. Ha una lunga tradizione di successi e vanta una numerosa tifoseria.
